Student Resources
Face to face classes that will be offered online will use our learning management system, Blackboard. Your instructor will send you specific information about assignments and adjustments to the syllabus. In addition, your instructor may choose to deliver course content synchronously using video conferencing or ask you to read or watch content asynchronously. This is a reference page to help you navigate this extraordinary circumstance.
This page was created to provide students resources and support as they keep learning. The tips, tools, and resources below are here to support students with the unexpected transition to remote learning. ACC aims to approach all aspects of academic continuity with compassion, care and flexibility.
Be well: Our main priority is your health. Please check health information on the ACC COVID-19 Update Page.
Be Proactive: The more you plan in advance the more you will be prepared. Check your ACC email often for guidance from the college and individual faculty about courses. Use this Adjusting Your Study Habits guide from the University of Michigan to make a study plan.
Practice flexibility: Your instructors may be learning new things as well. They will be looking at creative ways to deal with assignments, exams, discussions, avenues for student submission of their work, etc. In the end, just put your best foot forward and be open to change.
While our situations over the next few weeks may change, our goal remains the same: Help ACC students succeed. Even though many ACC Faculty and Staff will be working remotely during this time, ACC will continue to offer support, services, and resources to help students succeed.
Communications
During this time, things are likely to change quickly as the college community makes adjustments. It is very important to be aware of communication from your instructors and it is the responsibility of students to check their ACC email.
Help Desk
For all immediate technology concerns, please contact the ACC Help Desk at helpdesk@alpenacc.edu or by calling 989.358.7374. The Help Desk provides support to students, instructors, and staff who are experiencing technical difficulties. The Help Desk on campus will be staffed from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Internet Options
The Office of Information Technology has put together a map with the strongest locations for WiFi capability on ACC's campus. While the campus buildings are closed to the public until further notice, students are still permitted to come to campus to use our WiFi. Students can stay in their cars and park in close proximity to the WiFi hotspot locations.
If students are in need of other technology resources or assistance, please contact the Help Desk.
Tutoring & Proofreading Services
Tutoring services will still be available through the SSC but done remotely through WebEx. WebEx is easy to download on your laptop or smart phone. Once the appointment is scheduled through the SSC, the tutor will send a link to your ACC email with all the information. You will receive an email the night before or day of your scheduled appointment. Just click on the link, enter the passcode, and let the learning begin!
If you need a paper proofread, please send the Microsoft Word document to tutoring@alpenacc.edu. The document will be sent to a proofreader and emailed back to you with the revisions. Please make sure you send the document at least a few days before the due date. We cannot guarantee a same day turn around.
To make an appointment, email tutoring@alpenacc.edu.
