Testing Services at ACC
Important Information:
- ALL students must provide Testing Center Staff with a photo I.D. prior to testing.
- Please anticipate your testing needs and allow enough time for testing.
- Appointments in advance are mandatory; email for scheduling is preferred. Phone messages may sit in the inbox until the next scheduled work day, whereas email is checked daily.
- Hours are subject to change. In the event of no scheduled appointments, hours may begin later and/or close early or close for the day.

- Testing Center is located in Van Lare Hall, Room 101 inside of the Student Success Center. The closest entrance is through door V2.
- All students MUST make appointments in advance.

Alpena Community College offers a variety of testing certification services to students and the local community. Some services require registration and payment of a fee. Services include:
- Basic Skills Assessment:
ACCUPLACER placement assessment is required for:
- All new Alpena Community College students who do not have A.C.T. Reading, English and Mathematics subscores of 18 or higher and wish to register for more than one course** (Note: placement tests will only be given in the subject areas where subscore minimums were not met) or
- All new Alpena Community College students who do not have SAT Reading test scores of 25, Writing and Language test scores of 25 and Mathematics test score of 26.5 or higher and wish to register for more than one course* (Note: placement tests will only be given in the subject areas where sub-score minimums were not met.)
- Have not earned a minimum of 12 college credits including at least one college-level course in either English or Mathematics and
- All students who enroll for the first time in an English or mathematics course.
** Students who accumulate 6 credit hours by taking one course per semester will be required to take the ACCUPLACER placement test battery.
The ACCUPLACER Placement Test is strongly recommended for all students, regardless of course load or field of study.

ACC is a certified (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) Industrial Testing Site and offers a full range of concrete materials testing lab. Cement, aggregate, and concrete testing are done for a variety of industrial, commercial, and governmental clients, providing unique hands-on learning for students. Alpena Community College is an authorized testing center for certification exams on skills in the Information Technology industry. Some of the certification exams include Allaire, Avaya, Brocade, CIW, Check Point, Cisco, CompTIA, Ericsson, GED, iGeneration Informix, LPI, Lucent, Microsoft, MTTC, Novell, NREMT, PCTE, PTC, RSA Security, Siebel Systems.
