Earn Your Bachelor's Degree in Alpena!
The Madeline Briggs University Center at Alpena Community College houses offices of accredited four-year institutions that are cooperating with ACC to make completion programs for selected bachelor’s and master’s degrees available in Northeast Michigan. It is a concept Alpena Community College is actively pursuing to bring staff, classes, and services from partner colleges to existing facilities at the main campus in Alpena and at the Oscoda Campus for the purpose of offering a variety of advanced degree programs in their entirety. 

The University Center houses offices of Northwood University and Ferris State University. The Madeline Briggs University Center is located west of Van Lare Hall. It contains offices, a classroom, and a conference room.

Program Descriptions
The Bachelor of Integrative Studies Program is a flexible degree program designed for highly motivated, independent students who wish to pursue an interdisciplinary baccalaureate degree. This program allows students to develop competencies from a variety of disciplines that will be well-matched with their intended career and/or educational goals.

  • Organizational Engagement Option
    The Organizational Engagement Bachelor of Integrative Studies option offers students skills development in the key areas called for in today’s workforce. Employers repeatedly ask for graduates who have strong literacy skills, oral and written, as well as the ability to communicate across cultural boundaries. Leading teams and working cooperatively are also key skill sets. This configuration provides a 40 credit hour sequence of classes structured around other coursework selected in consultation with the program advisor which will give students a distinctive discipline area.

  • Social Science Management with Certificate in Human Resources
    The Bachelor of Integrative Studies/Social Science Management Option with a Certificate in Human Resource Management offers students skill development in the key areas called for in today’s workforce. Employers repeatedly ask for graduates who have strong literacy skills, oral and written, as well as the ability to communicate across cultural boundaries. Leading teams and working cooperatively are also key skill sets. The integration of social science and management lays the foundation for various careers requiring individuals to manage diverse groups of people in a multiplicity of settings. This is a flexible degree program designed for highly motivated, independent students who wish to pursue an interdisciplinary baccalaureate degree. Students will develop competencies from a variety of disciplines that will be well matched for a career in the human resources field. This program provides an opportunity for students to gain the basic knowledge and skills in the field of Human Resources required of supervisors and managers in all areas of an organization while allowing students to complete a bachelor's degree on the Alpena campus.
