Michigan Corrections Officer Grant Program

Attend Michigan's community colleges tuition free

Michigan Corrections Officer Grant Program

Earn your credits at no cost!

The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) requires that corrections officers earn 15 college credits within 24 months of employment. The Michigan Corrections Officer Grant Program established a fund, to be administered by the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA), to support tuition and fees for corrections officers enrolled at Michigan community colleges. Students are responsible only for books, and scholarships and financial aid are available for those who qualify.

Why Choose ACC?

  • The five required courses are offered in an accelerated format, allowing students to complete them all in one semester without having to take all of them at once!
  • Each of our instructors in this program are former MDOC employees.
  • Corrections officers who complete their academic requirements may apply for physical training credit for their corrections academy.

Eligibility

Corrections officers who meet the following criteria are eligible to submit an application for the MCCA Corrections Officer Grant Program:

  • Employed by the Michigan Department of Corrections
  • Have not earned 15 college credits and are eligible for the grant program with the approval of the Michigan Department of Corrections.
  • Enroll at a community college in Michigan. Out-of-state community colleges, public universities, and independent colleges are not eligible institutions for this program.
